Synopsis
Having made his shock entrance into London society, James Delaney sets about reclaiming his legacy and establishing a new life for himself. While the city views him with hostility and suspicion, James begins to enlist allies in unlikely places and with irregular loyalties.
At the reading of his father's will, an unexpected arrival threatens to disrupt his plans, and it is not long before the poisonous nature of his new-found inheritance is finally revealed. Not only must he face down two of the mightiest powers in London, but there are equally complicated matters much closer to home. And then there is his past, which will not be denied.[1]

Anachronisms
- Delaney speaks of the "Fifteen States" and is not contradicted by the American to whom the remark is addressed. This should then be after the accession of Kentucky as the fifteenth State in 1792 and before Tennessee became the sixteenth in 1796. Yet the presence of the Prince Regent means the series cannot be set before he assumed that title in 1811. [2]
Continuity
- At the 33m18sec mark, James walks through shot with his trench coat looking authentically soiled and in the next shot at 33m22sec his trench coat appears to have been dry cleaned.[2]
Factual errors
- The show takes place in 1814 and there are doorknobs on the doors. However the doorknob was not invented until 1878, 64 years later.[2]
